FlatironDragados-Herzog JV secures contract for Franconia-Springfield Bypass Project

FlatironDragados and joint venture partner Herzog were awarded a $414 million contract from the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority, or VPRA.
The project is a 1.5-mile passenger railroad track that has more than a half-mile-long rail flyover bypass bridge that will cross over existing CSX tracks. The project will allow for reduced congestion between Fredericksburg, Virginia and Washington, D.C., a notable area of congestion. Construction will begin this month with an expected completion date in 2029.
The project is in collaboration with other railroads and agencies in the area. In the Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland area, there is the joint venture with Skanska for the $1 billion Long Bridge North project, the Susquehanna River Bridge project, a $421 million I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension, a $4.3 billion Hampton Roads Bridge & Tunnel Expansion project, and Airfield improvement projects at Dulles International Airport.
