CATS invests in LYNX Red Line commuter rail project development

The Charlotte Metropolitan Transit Commission (MTC) has approved the allocation of $5 million from the FY2023 Capital Investment Plan for progression of the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) 2030 System Plan, specifically for advancement of the LYNX Red Line.
The LYNX Red Line commuter rail will connect the Center City Charlotte and the Northern region. The funding will be used for public outreach, design update, confirming the proposed alignment into Uptown and continued coordination with Norfolk Southern for use of their existing rail line.
